Created stronger transatlantic dialogue on new technology and global digital rules and regulations through the annual Cyber & Tech Retreat.

International cyber and tech policy has become a mainstream foreign policy issue, leading to the creation of an increasing number of new cyber and technology diplomacy positions in foreign ministries worldwide. Through the annual Cyber & Retreat, Denmark leads in bridging technology with diplomacy, driving forward the global dialogue on new and emerging technologies and the creation of global digital rules and regulations.

key Achievements & Results

  • The Cyber & Tech Retreat: Since 2019, co-chaired the annual Cyber and Tech Retreat in partnership with the Australian Ambassador for Cyber Affairs and Critical Technology. This initiative gathers cyber and tech ambassadors from an expanding group of nations, tech firms, academics and industry leaders in the Bay Area to strengthen cooperation with like-minded countries as well as the tech industry.   • A Global Network: In 2022, formalized a global network of cyber and tech ambassadors from more than 20 countries to ensure that the technological development supports security, democracy and human rights. The network recognizes that partnership and collaboration between governments and the technology companies is paramount if we are to successfully navigate the challenges of the 21st century. It remains a goal of the global network to encourage governments to approach tech industry engagement as a core foreign policy priority.
