Type of Employment: Full time employment for 1 year with the possibility of extension

Are you passionate about the everything from cybersecurity, friendly hackers and how new technologies are impacting the war in Ukraine to questions on how we govern a peaceful cyberspace in the 21st century? And do you wish to represent Denmark to the multinational tech and cyber industries and advance engagement on how to counter cyber-attacks and hybrid threats? 

 

These topics are central to Denmark's technological and cyber diplomatic efforts. The digital domain has become an integral part of 21st-century international politics, and we are now looking for a new Cyber and Tech Advisor to help Denmark navigate this new reality.

 

If your answer is “yes” to the questions above and you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced office that operates across time zones, then you might be the ideal candidate for the position as our Cyber and Tech Advisor.

The Office of Denmark's Tech Ambassador has a global mandate with a presence in both Silicon Valley and Copenhagen. As a member of the Silicon Valley team, you will report directly to the Tech Ambassador (Copenhagen) and the Deputy Tech Ambassador (Silicon Valley), while coordinating closely with the Silicon Valley team, as well as colleagues in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the Copenhagen-based cyber coordinator.

The successful candidate will be able to advise on and lead projects within the intersection of new emerging technologies, security policy, and foreign policy by:

  • Building and maintaining a multi-stakeholder network that includes multinational cyber and tech companies, think tanks, and academia.
  • Analyzing new trends and writing cables in Danish on a regular basis to relevant stakeholders.
  • Planning and executing meetings, high-level events, and delegations, including ministerial visits and public appearances for the Ambassador.
  • Supporting the implementation of TechPlomacy’s new strategy for tech diplomacy, as reflected in the Foreign and Security Policy Strategy 2023.

 

Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, such as working on technology, security, policy, or international relations issues.
  • Excellent written communication skills in both English and Danish.
  • A strong sense of responsibility and proactivity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Employment Conditions

  • You will be offered full time employment for 1 year as mission-employed staff with the possibility of extension.
  • Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week. Overtime work is to be expected during peaks.
  • You will be entitled to 5 weeks (25 working days) of paid vacation days per year.
  • As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme. 
  • You will be offered reasonable health care coverage, which includes a spouse/partner as well as children under the age of 26, if applicable.
