Political Intern

Do you want to help place Denmark at the forefront of the global debate on the consequences of technology for society and foreign policy? The Danish Tech representation in Silicon Valley is looking for a political intern with an interest in the intersection of politics and technology for the fall semester of 2024.


With offices in Copenhagen and Silicon Valley, the Tech Ambassador of Denmark and the surrounding global team contribute to rethinking the traditional way of conducting diplomacy. As a first-mover, Denmark and the TechPlomacy initiative have attracted a large amount of national as well as international attention.

 

The TechPlomacy team's location in Silicon Valley provides unique access to one of the world's most dynamic and innovative ecosystems. You will get the opportunity to get close to some of the world’s most prominent tech companies, think tanks, elite universities and representations of other influential countries. In addition, you will have the opportunity to delve into the political agenda surrounding the transformative influence of technology and digitization on Denmark and the international community.

 

Your Role

As political intern, your primary focus will be to support the team in analysis and the planning and execution of specific TechPlomacy projects, all while gaining insight into modern diplomacy in an innovative and exciting environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analysis of current and future tech-trends and their impact on the (Danish) society, politics, and economy
  • Contribute to the Tech representation’s work with implementing the measures in the upcoming strategy for Denmark’s technological diplomacy
  • Be a part of the development, planning and execution of specific TechPlomacy projects
  • Assist with the cultivation and maintenance of the Silicon Valley network through participation in events and meetings with the world's leading tech companies, international organizations and university environments.
  • Conduct research to generate input and write drafts for mission reports
  • Take part in the preparation of incoming and outgoing visits including ministerial visits as well as the Tech Representation's international consultations.
  • Answer inquiries and assist with the preparation of internal and external meetings.

What Do We Expect From You?

The ideal candidate possesses excellent analytical skills and a strong ability to understand complex foreign policy issues. We expect you to approach assignments with curiosity, courage, and structure, and to meet tight deadlines. You should be capable of formulating and communicating complex messages in both English and Danish. As part of an agile unit, it is crucial that you can actively contribute ideas and effectively execute them. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, but the position is particularly aimed at students with competencies in the field of social science or those with experience from government agencies or political organizations.
