If so, you might be the perfect candidate to join our dedicated TechPlomacy team at the Office of the Tech Ambassador of Denmark at the Consulate General in Silicon Valley.
We are a dynamic and fast-paced office that operates across several time zones, dealing with topics and insights central to Denmark’s technological and geopolitical awareness and efforts for the coming years. The digital domain has become an integral part of 21st-century politics, and we are looking for a new Tech Advisor to help Denmark continue to navigate this evolving political realm.
The Office of Denmark's Tech Ambassador has a global mandate to engage proactively with the main opportunities and risks of emerging technologies, with a presence in both Silicon Valley and Copenhagen. As a member of the Silicon Valley team, you will report directly to the Tech Ambassador (Copenhagen) and the Deputy Tech Ambassador (Silicon Valley).
About the Role
The successful candidate advise on and lead projects at the intersection of emerging technologies, AI, and foreign policy, by:

Building and maintaining a multi-stakeholder network that includes multinational AI & tech companies, think tanks, and academia

Liasing with tech industry regarding regulation, legislation, and implementation hereof

Analyzing new trends and regularly reporting in Danish to relevant stakeholders

Planning and executing meetings, high-level events, and delegations, including ministerial visits and public appearances for the Ambassador

Supporting the implementation of TechPlomacy’s new strategy for tech diplomacy, as reflected in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tech Strategy 2024
In short, we seek a driven, curious and knowledgeable colleague who can navigate the intersections between AI, technology, diplomacy and foreign affairs.
Required Qualifications

At least 3 years of relevant work experience, ideally within technology, policy, computer science or international relations

Strong interpersonal skills
-
Excellent communication skills – oral and written, in Danish

A strong sense of responsibility and proactivity
Desired Qualifications
-
Knowledge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

Knowledge of emerging technologies and the implications – namely AI.
-
Knowledge of the geopolitical consequences of technological developments.
Employment Conditions

You will be offered full time employment for 2 years with the possibility of extension as mission-employed staff. Housing and relocation benefits are not provided as part of the employment and your spouse/partner is not eligible for a work permit

You will be employed with a work week of – on average – 37 hours, but you are employed without an upper working hours’ limit

You will be entitled to 5 weeks (25 working days) of paid vacation days per year

As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme
-
You will be offered reasonable health coverage, which includes your spouse/partner as well as children under the age of 26, if applicable

The gross yearly salary for the position – for an employee subject to US income taxation – is around 89.000$. For a tax-exempt employee (non-US) the yearly net salary is around 76.000$
